ONA Announces Endorsements for 2024 November Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 1, 2024

Columbus, Ohio – ONA is proud to announce endorsements for the upcoming 2024 November general election. After a thorough and deliberate process, the ONA Board of Directors has endorsed candidates and ballot measures that align with our commitment to advancing the nursing profession, promoting quality healthcare, and supporting all working people across Ohio.

“We are proud to endorse candidates and measures that share our vision for a stronger Ohio,” said Rick Lucas, BSN, RN, CCRN, ONA President and Executive Director. “Our endorsed candidates have demonstrated a commitment to improving healthcare, supporting workers’ rights, and fostering vibrant communities. We encourage all nurses and health professionals to support these candidates and measures in the upcoming election.”

The ONA’s endorsement process is rigorous and member-driven. Candidates seeking ONA’s endorsement must complete comprehensive questionnaires, provide details of their experience, and, where applicable, demonstrate a legislative voting record that supports the interests of nurses and health professionals. The final endorsements are determined by a majority vote of the ONA Board of Directors, which comprises dedicated nurse and health professional leaders from across the state.

The list of endorsed candidates and information on the ballot measures can be found at ohnurses.org/onavotes.

Our endorsement process respects and celebrates the absolute right of every nurse and health professional to vote according to their personal beliefs and political philosophies. The ONA Board of Directors focuses on endorsing candidates and ballot measures based on their potential impact on our members, our communities, and all working people in Ohio. Key considerations include the candidates’ and measures’ stances on healthcare, workers’ rights, and supporting good public policy.
