COLUMBUS – The Ohio Nurses Association is bringing back its historic candidate endorsements for the Ohio General Assembly in 2022. A member-driven operation, the ONA’s endorsement process involves registered nurses from across Ohio who will interview and vet the candidates in their respective district. Candidates who are most likely to be nursing allies and ready to tackle important healthcare issues will be considered for endorsement.
“The pandemic has shed light on many problems in healthcare, and now more than ever before, nurses are ready to effect change at the statehouse. We are over 200,000 strong in the state, and the ONA feels it necessary to inform our fellow nurses of the candidates who are ready to take on issues important to nurses,” stated Robert Weitzel, RN, BSN, president of the Ohio Nurses Association.
The process begins in May 2022 with a vetting process that is a mix of both virtual and in-person. Candidates may contact Tiffany Bukoffsky, Director of Health Policy, at [email protected] to be considered for the process. The two-year endorsements decisions will be made by September 2022.
