VIA EMAIL: Ruda.Jenkins@UCHealth.com
Ruda,
Your email is a disgraceful attempt to mislead and intimidate MobileCare nurses, showing a profound disrespect for their professionalism. Let’s address the facts:
The Union petition and election agreement define the bargaining unit for election, as legally required. Your insinuation that this somehow limits what MobileCare nurses can achieve through collective bargaining is not only misleading – it’s flat-out false.
MobileCare nurses are not bound by another bargaining unit’s contract. They will bargain based on their collective strength, supported by the full backing of ONA and the Registered Nurses Association, both of which have a proven record of securing strong contracts. Although we do not know all the terms and conditions of AFSCME’s collective bargaining agreement, we stand in solidarity with their members as they work to better the wages and working conditions that UCMC is clearly determined to depress.
Your suggestion that UCMC could force nurses into a contract “better for UCMC” makes your priorities painfully clear: suppressing wages and undermining working conditions to boost your bottom line. This shameless strategy only proves why these nurses need and are fighting for a union – to stand up to the very tactics you’re using against them.
MobileCare nurses deserve more than your condescending scare tactics. They deserve a voice, the respect that they’ve earned, and the resources of a powerful union at their side to fight for the working conditions and patient care they provide every day.
Sincerely,
Rick Lucas, BSN, RN, CCRN
ONA President & Executive Director
