Cincinnati, Ohio – In celebration of Nurses Week and in response to growing concerns across the region’s healthcare system, the Registered Nurses Association (RNA) of Cincinnati is hosting a Rally for Solidarity and Support on Thursday, May 8th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Washington Park, 1230 Elm Street. The event, organized under the banner Cincy Nurses United, is expected to draw hundreds of nurses and supporters from across the Greater Cincinnati area.
At the heart of this rally is a simple but powerful message: frontline nurses are standing together to demand dignity, safety, and a voice in decisions that impact their patients and their profession.
“We are proud to be nurses, but we’re tired of being treated as expendable,” said Kylee Ham, President of the Registered Nurses Association of Cincinnati. “This rally is about standing together, not just as coworkers, but as a united force demanding safe staffing, respect, and a real say in how care is delivered. When nurses organize, we protect patients and transform healthcare.”
The rally will feature speakers from local hospitals, labor unions, and advocacy groups, along with a community resource fair focused on building solidarity across the healthcare community. Participants will raise issues including unsafe staffing levels, workplace violence, and the need for nurse-led leadership in healthcare reform.
Key themes of the rally include:
- Support and Collaboration: Creating spaces for nurses to share resources and experiences.
- Collective Advocacy: Mobilizing for stronger protections, fair working conditions, and a seat at the table.
- Community Impact: Uplifting the voice of nurses as protectors not only of health, but of justice and dignity in our communities.
The event is free and open to the public. Nurses, health professionals, patients, and allies are encouraged to attend and stand in solidarity.
