(Columbus, OH) – Today, the Ohio Nurses Association, a union representing more than 10,000 nurses and health professionals across the state, endorsed Amy Acton’s campaign for governor, citing her commitment to lowering healthcare costs, advocacy for union values, and building an Ohio where working families can thrive.
Dr. Acton has been endorsed by several key labor groups in Ohio, including the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, the Dayton Building and Construction Trades Council, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, the United Auto Workers, the Service Employees International Union District 1199, the Communications Workers of America, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the United Mine Workers of America, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 6.
“Dr. Amy Acton understands that safe patient care starts with supporting the nurses and health professionals on the front lines. She has consistently stood for policies that lower healthcare costs, protect working families, and strengthen our healthcare system from the ground up,” said Rick Lucas, President and Executive Director of the Ohio Nurses Association. “At a time when too many communities, especially rural areas, are facing growing barriers to care, we need leadership that will invest in access, accountability, and a workforce that can safely meet patients’ needs. That’s why the Ohio Nurses Association is proud to stand with her.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Ohio Nurses Association. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand that nurses and healthcare workers are the backbone of our state’s healthcare system,” said Dr. Amy Acton. “As a doctor and public servant, I believe that Ohioans deserve access to affordable healthcare. While my opponent calls Medicaid and Medicare a ‘mistake’ from his private jet, I am laser focused on lowering healthcare costs, advocating for union values, and building a healthier Ohio for all of us.”
