Ohio Nurses Association Announces Appointment of New Chief Executive Officer

CINCINNATI – The Ohio Nurses Association is proud to announce the appointment of the association’s new Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Ochs, at the ONA’s 88th Convention.

Lisa is coming to the ONA by way of the AFT Kansas, where she led the organization in her role as president for 12 years. During her tenure, she led a multitude of professionals including the Kansas University Nurses Association through four contract campaigns. Lisa’s strong strategic planning background, political savviness, solid business acumen and top-notch labor relations skills make her the ideal choice to head ONA – the voice for RNs in Ohio.

” I am honored to announce the Ohio Nurses Association’s new Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Ochs. A psychologist and accomplished leader, Lisa not only knows healthcare but she also knows the importance of healthcare professionals’ voice being included at the decision-making table. Formerly the president of AFT Kansas, Lisa is a proven leader at the organization, state and national levels,” stated Brian Burger, President of the Ohio Nurses Association. “I want to thank Kelly Trautner who served as interim Chief Executive Office during this time of transition,” continued Burger.

“I am honored to be chosen as the CEO of the ONA – an organization that represents 10,000 of Ohio’s nurse leaders who work every day to provide the quality care Ohioans deserve. It is a privilege to serve a profession that is held in such high regard, with nurses being voted the most trusted profession year after year. I look forward to embarking on this new adventure as we build upon the solid foundation and rich history of ONA to advance and protect the nursing profession in Ohio and the over 200,000 registered nurses in the state,” stated Ms. Ochs.
