East Liverpool Nurses Return to Work

The following statement is attributable to Bob Cousins, Deputy Executive Office of Labor Relations, Ohio Nurses Association:

“This morning at 6:59am was the culmination of our nurses’ three-day Unfair Labor Practice Strike, where nurses stood in front of East Liverpool City Hospital day and night advocating for a better hospital for the East Liverpool community. While we have yet to hear from the hospital/Prime Healthcare directly, our nurses are still eager to get back to the negotiating table and secure a fair contract that addresses the nurse retention crisis the hospital, our nurses, and our patients are facing. We know East Liverpool deserves a community hospital that invests in nurses and, therefore, patient care, and we will not rest until a fair agreement is reached. The nurses thank the community for their palpable support. You helped keep the nurses’ spirits lifted and reminded them each day just who they are doing this for. We also thank everyone who has lent their support across the nation; we have read statements from folks who may not know us, but know what we’re fighting for, leaving us assured that we are all in this together and fighting the good fight.”
