EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – Last night over 97% of the nurses at East Liverpool City Hospital voted to go out on an unfair labor practice strike beginning at 7:00 a.m. November 21st. The contract expires at midnight tonight. Unfortunately, on November 18, the employer rejected the unions offer of a two-week extension to the contract. The union has offered several dates for continued negotiations but so far the employer has not accepted any of those dates. It has always been ONA’s intention to reach an agreement that works for patients, the nurses and the hospital. ONA looks forward to returning to the bargaining table to resolve our differences over a new contract without further delays; hopefully, before midnight tonight.
