David Foley – March’s Featured Member

David Foley, PhD, MSN, RN-BC, MPA is the chair of the newly-formed ONA caucus on Cultural Diversity in Nursing – a topic of which David is passionate. David wrote his dissertation on the subject and has written several articles that will be featured in upcoming issues of the Ohio Nurses Review.

In addition to his volunteer role at ONA, David is an assistant professor at the Frances Payne Bolton College of Nursing at Case Western University. When asked about his favorite part of his job, David responded, “The favorite part of my job is of course working with students. I structure my teaching practice around an iconic quote from author and entrepreneur Robert Half:  “when one teaches, two learn.” Although I am part of team of educators who are developing the next generation of nurses, I am also very open to the knowledge and perspective provided by my students. It has been so enriching to watch class after class grow, graduate, and enter practice.”

David graduated from the Huron Hospital School of Nursing in East Cleveland. He later obtained his PhD in Urban Education – Nursing Education from Cleveland State University in 2016.

Congratulations, David! We’re proud to have you as a member of ONA.
