Cincinnati Nurses to Picket in Response to UC Medical Center’s Union Attacks

Nurses fed up with grievance delays, medical center’s dishonesty

WHAT: The 1,700 nurses of the Registered Nurses Association of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, a local of the Ohio Nurses Association, and public allies will hold an informational picket in response to the Medical Center’s prolific attempts to silence the nurses’ voice. The picket is part of an ongoing response from the nurses after the harassment and subsequent discipline and termination of two prominent union leaders, President Michelle Thoman and Vice President Jennifer Donaldson respectively.

The nurses’ union is grieving the unjust discipline of Thoman and termination of Donaldson, with the Medical Center delaying grievance hearings on four separate occasions citing “unpreparedness” and claims of an evidentiary video that has since, according to the Medical Center, been overwritten and therefore unviewable. The video was to support the Medical Center’s dishonest and ludicrous accusation of patient abandonment against Donaldson.

Thoman has received one hearing and Donaldson’s re-scheduled hearing is for September 11, 2019.

The union has also filed three more Unfair Labor Practices charges against the Medical Center – including a charge for surveilling the union – in addition to the five charges filed in June.
