Ohio Nurses Elect New President, Board Members

 Members of the Ohio Nurses Association elect new leadership during the 2017 biennial convention


COLUMBUS – Members of the Ohio Nurses Association voted this past weekend for a new president and board of directors during the association’s 2017 biennial convention.

The new leadership includes influential nurse leaders from across the state and from a variety of backgrounds. The elected leaders’ unique experiences are sure to enhance the work of the Ohio Nurses Association and its vision of being the recognized leader of professional nursing and nurses in Ohio.

The newly elected board members are as follows:

President: Brian Burger, Cincinnati

1st Vice President: Janice Lanier, Westerville

2nd Vice President: Shelly Malberti, Euclid

Secretary: Joyce Powell, Cuyahoga Falls

Treasurer: Janet Timmons, Columbus

Board Structured: Robert Weitzel, Cincinnati

Board Structured: Jessica Frymyer, Orient

Board Unstructured, New Nurse: Holly Renninger, Uniontown

Board Unstructured: Gina Severino, Canfield

Board Unstructured: Paula Anderson, Westerville

“Here at the Ohio Nurses Association, we are advocates for both our patients and our fellow nurses in Ohio. We are at a time where the future of America’s healthcare is uncertain. Right now it is more important than ever for nurses to be included in the decisions that affect the care of our patients and the ability of our fellow nurses to provide safe, quality care for our patients. I am motivated to collaborate with my fellow colleagues to lead this association and will ensure the voice of Ohio nurses are included in decisions that affect our patients and our fellow nurses,” said Brian Burger, Ohio Nurses Association President.

The new board members will join the following directors whose terms remain for another two years:

Board Unstructured: Barbara Welch, Rushville

Board Structured: Iris Marcentile, Coshocton

Board Structured: Jeannette Porter, Cincinnati

Board Structured: Mary Bales, Lima
